My First Junk Journal: Book Page Pocket

Nigezza Creates aka Gez, Independent Stampin' Up® Demonstrator

Thank you for visiting my blog, I really do appreciate. I am here with another instalment in my Junk Journal series. Today I am making a pocket out of some book pages.

I am really enjoying making my first Junk Journal and so excited to be sharing it with you.  I take you through the process from start to finish ...not that it is finished yet of course! It is a work in progress and I hope you will join me. I have made mistakes and I have learned from them and I have enjoyed every minute.

If you missed the beginning episode 1 you can view it here :-) I will be doing this every Wednesday so do subscribe to not miss any. I have created a playlist on my YouTube channel so you can easily find all my tutorials in this series.

Measurements and Materials

I normally give you the measurements of my projects, but for this project this will not always be possible as it is often not precise as it involves ripping paper!

The signatures in this Junk Journal are me using A4 sheets folded in half to make an A5 sized journal.

  • I took 2 pages of a vintage hymnal and folded the corner of one over and over again to form a nice lip for the pocket
  • I picked out some patterned paper to add to the front
  • After gluing this I sewed all around the top section and folded section
  • Once sewed I then glued the front to the back on 3 sides
  • Then I sewed around the whole pocket
  • I used my inks to distress it
  • I glued this to the page
  • If I had glued the back page to cord stock I could have made this into a pocket on the page but as it was just a vintage book page it was not strong enough
  • I stamped around the page on the journal and the patterned paper

Now watch the video tutorial to see how this was made :-)
