Using My Scan N Cut To Cut Stamped Images, DSP & Digitals

Nigezza Creates aka Gez, Independent Stampin' Up® Demonstrator

Thank you for visiting my blog today. As some of you may know I recently got a Scan N Cut.  I have been having fun trying out different ways of using it and seeing what it will cut. I have learned a few things about what I need to do to images to make sure they will cut. A few people have asked if I am going to do a review so here it is.

First of all I have to give a shout out to my team mate Ashley, Applelover53 on YouTube,  who has been a source of great advice during my decision making of which model to buy. Also for her fabulous videos which meant I had a good idea about how to use the machine before I bought it so I was able to get cutting straight out of the box.

I bought the SDX135 Pro model. It has an auto blade which was Ashley's advice when I spoke to her. It takes away the guess work and you do not have to set the depth of the blade when cutting different thickness of paper and card.

Using My Scan N Cut With Stamped Images, DSP & Digitals

What have I cut?

  • I have successfully cut stamped images
  • Images on designer series paper
  • Images from books
  • Images from Digital kits

What is important to know?

  • The image you are cutting needs to have a clear outline
  • If it is a stamped image and there are any gaps in the outline then you need to join all the lines up
  • If the image on the DSP has white sections then it will not cut them
    • You can try using a pencil on these sections of a pen
  • If it is a digital image and there is not a clear outline or a light outline then it may not cut so you may need to use a pencil or pen to add one
  • You can scan in colour or black and white, you can see which scans better before you actually cut
  • You can edit the scan to delete sections that have not scanned properly
  • Have patience!

Have I done anything other than cut?

  • No!
  • This is so far a very expensive pair of scissors!
  • I am happy to learn a little at a time and become good at it before i explore the other things this machine can do

Now watch the video to see how I use it :-)

The Project Share 30th Dec 2021

Nigezza Creates aka Gez, Independent Stampin' Up® Demonstrator

Nigezza Creates Project Share Stampin Up!

Thank you so much for visiting my blog today, it's Thursday so it's time for another Project Share.  Every Thursday I chose a project from 3 of my crafty friends. From the left we have Jill aka Paper Daisy Crafting, Verity aka Inkybutterfly, me and Heather aka Stamp with Nellie.

This is the last Project Share for 2021, so I would like to wish you all a very happy New Year and say thank you for joining me every week to see what my crafty friends have been getting up to, we really appreciate it.

This week I have decided to look back over the year and pick one of my favourite projects .... I say one of as it is too hard to narrow it down to one as there are so many wonderful projects.

Heather from Stamp With Nellie

The Project Share 30th Jan 2021

Heather made this back in January. I just loved it, such a cute box and a great use of the tag toper punch. Perfect little gift box for a little gift. The ribbon just finishes it off lovely.

Verity from Inkybutterfly

The Project Share 30th Jan 2021

Verity made this beautiful card back in June. I just loved it ...well it's purple so I was bound to! It was seeing this card that had me placing an order for the Encircled in Beauty Dies!

You can take a closer look at this project by clicking here :-)

Jill from Paper Daisy Crafting

The Project Share 30th Jan 2021

Finally Jill made this card back in May. Such a brilliant masculine card. I loved it so much that I had to place another order and got these Stitched Triangle dies! We are such enablers for each other lol!

I hope you like these projects and will go and check out the blog posts. To make sure you don't miss any of my projects why not subscribe to my YouTube channel and subscribe to my newsletter and click the button to follow my blog :-)

Journal Tags From Clothes Tags

Nigezza Creates aka Gez, Independent Stampin' Up® Demonstrator

Thank you for visiting my blog, I really do appreciate it. I am sharing an upcycle project with you today. I save all sorts of things that I can use in Junk Journals and I especially like nice clothes tags. I ask my sons and Ed to save their clothes tags especially ones from particular shops as they already have great labels without much needed to be done to them.

Journal Tags From Clothes Tags

Measurements and Materials

  • I have used the Encircled in beauty dies as these make great doilies for junk journals
  • There are some very small dies which are perfect for the top of a tag
  • For these tags I covered the backs with tea dyed paper & then stamped the backs with my favourite Stampin' Up! stamps
    • Very Versailles
    • Quiet Meadow
  • On the front I used some vintage book page, the die cut doilies which I stamped on and a bird image that was taken from some retired Stampin' Up! DSP
  • The finishing touch was a word that I had typed & covered with dress making patten paper to give them an old vintage look
  • Finally I added some lovely crochet trim that is on clearance at the moment, Diamond Weave Ribbon

Now watch the video tutorial to see how this was made :-)
