Vintage Ephemera Folder Using A Recycled Paper Bag

Nigezza Creates aka Gez, Independent Stampin' Up® Demonstrator

Thank you for visiting my blog on Junk Journal Wednesday, I really do appreciate it and hope you like the project and will take a look at the video tutorial as well.  Todays project is one inspired by Liz The Paper Project  on YouTube. She made this ephemera clutch bag last year and I loved it and wanted to make it. Well I finally got around to it. I decided to make it for a swap I was taking part in and loved the result so much I made one for myself.  I have used a brown gusseted  paper bag I get my prescriptions in. They used to be white bags but last year during lockdown they changed to brown and I have been hoarding them to use and finally I have used 2 f them.  I have several different sizes so I am sure I shall be making more of these in the full range of sizes. If you do not have these particular bags then you can use what you have got.

Measurements and Materials

  • Measurements for this projects depend on the size of the bag you start with
  • I used a large Boots paper bag
    • 10 1/2" wide
  • I folded the bag into 3 sections a smaller section for the flap and 2 other sections about 4 1/2" deep
  • This enabled me to get the paper panels out of 2 sheets of 12" x 12" scrapbook paper
  • I used a retired Stampin' Up! pack of DSP
  • I covered all edges in brown paper packaging tape to add strength and also cover some of the writing on the bag
  • All edges were inked and sew on my sewing machine ( this is purely optional )
  • I inked and stamped on the paper to give an even more vintage look
  • I used vintage music paper for the concertina storage
    • I glued 2 sheets together so it was stronger
  • I used ribbon to close & decorated with the scraps from the sheets of paper
  • I made faux vintage stamps and mini doilies

Now watch the video tutorial to see how this was made :-)
