Making A Hard Cover For My Edith Holden Journal

Nigezza Creates aka Gez, Independent Stampin' Up® Demonstrator

Thank you for visiting my blog on Junk Journal day, I really do appreciate it and hope you like the project and will take a look at the video tutorial as well. I am bringing you the last episode in my Edith Holden journal, the cover, sewing in the signatures and a flick through.  I have put the videos in the Edith Holden play list on my YouTube channel.

I have loved working with this beautiful book and I have loads of pages left to make more projects. Not to mention 5 more book! I was lucky enough t find yet another copy at the weekend!

Measurements and Materials

  • I used a jigsaw puzzle box for the cover because it is very good thick grey board
  • I cut the board to 6 1/4" x 8 3/4" for the front and back cover
  • For the spine I cut 2" x 8 3/4"
  • To join the 3 pieces I used some black construction tape
  • This is the first time I have used this tape and it is quick, easy and I am told strong!
  • I covered both sides of the cover with tea dyed paper
  • I distressed the paper with inks and stamps
  • I used some vintage fabric to cover the spine
  • Some Edith Holden book pages for the front and inside the front and back cover
  • The 2 signatures were sewn in

Now watch the video tutorial to see how this was made :-)
