Thank you so much for visiting my blog today, it's Thursday so it's time for another Project Share.  Every Thursday I chose a project from 3 of my crafty friends. From the left we have Jill aka Paper Daisy Crafting, Verity aka Inkybutterfly, me and Heather aka Stamp with Nellie.

I love this poinsettia card Verity made, she took inspiration from each of us from a project share she shared. Elements from each of our cards were used here. Fabulous idea and a lovely result.

World Of Good Holiday Ephemera Concertina File Folder

Thank you for visiting my blog, I really do appreciate it and hope you like the project and will take a look at the video tutorial as well.  I was on a blog hop o Sunday with the theme Vacation so I made a concertina file folder to collect all the tickets and memorabilia while on holiday ready to scrapbook when I get home.  I also thought they would be good to store Junk Journal ephemera. So I thought it appropriate to show this tutorial as part of my Junk Journal series. 

I have 2 play lists on my YouTube channel for my Junk Journal videos to make them easy to find. I have 'My First Junk Journal' which show from beginning to the end me creating the my first ever Junk Journal. The second playlist has all my tags and ephemera I have made 'Junk Journal Embellishments & Tags. 




Measurements and Materials

The measurements for this project depend on the size of the envelopes your use. I have made 3 of these now. The original 2 were made using envelopes designed for 5"x7" cards. The folder I have made for this tutorial uses A4 envelopes cut in half so it quite a bit bigger. 

I am really pleased with the look of my up-cycled envelopes with this gorgeous vintage looking World Of Good DSP from Stampin' Up! and feel it looked a bit like a old fashioned attache case. 

  • 3 brown A4 envelopes sealed and cut in half
  • This forms 6 pockets for the file folder
  • There are two ways of gluing these together
    • Place glue the whole length of the envelope
    • OR
    • Place glue just half way down the envelope
  • For this project I put the glue just half way down each envelope but in my 2 smaller ones I have done both ways and I think I prefer this way
  • Card stock was cut the same size of the envelopes and adhered to the back and front of the stack of envelopes
  • I decided to use Whisper White and ink it up with Early Espresso ink
    • I could have used Early Espresso card stock but I did not have enough and actually I prefer the look of the inked up version as it goes well with the vintage look of the DSP
    • The DSP was also inked around the edges
  • I matted the DSP onto the Whisper White
    • This added more strength to the folder, the original ones just had DSP on them
  • The flap was made from Whisper White card stock, DSP & a layer of envelope on the inside
    • I measured the width of my envelope and cut A4 down to that size so the flap length was the size of the standard card stock width
    • Both the envelope and the DSP were also inked around the edges
    • Whisper White was again inked with Early Espresso 
    • To enable the flap to curve nicely I scored every 1/8" 
  • I used a Memories & More card for the closure
    • This was matted onto Whisper White in the same way and a piece of envelope used on the inside so it all matched
  • I used the Faux Sued Trim & the Antique Slider to fasten the folder
    • Ribbon was stuck between the layers of card and Memories and More 
    • Enough ribbon was cut to go all the way round the folder with extra to allow for expansion and to tie 
    • The slider was placed near the Memories and More card and when tying the ribbon it was looped through the slider for extra security

Snowflake Wishes Thank You Card Tutorial

Thank you for visiting my blog today, I really do appreciate it.  As promised I am here with the tutorial I made for the  Kylie Bertucci's International Blog Highlights Winners Hop. I was absolutely delighted to be voted into the top ten to be able to take part in the blog hop. This was the first time I had entered and I was absolutely blown away to be in the top ten and not only that but to be second! 

Below is the card I made for the voting. I used a Christmas set from the new Stampin' Up! mini catalogue, Poinsettia Petals,  that has a lovely thank you sentiment. I thought this would be a lovely card to give to guest you have over the festive season or to give to a host if you had Christmas with family or friends. I think it has a lovely frosty wintery feel.

For the blog hop I have once again used a Christmas set from the new Mini catalogue, snowflake Wishes. I love that it also has a thank you sentiment and I just adore the wittiness in this sentiment, it really appeals to my Dad joke sense of humour!

For the tutorial I changed the colour and added the Winter Snow embossing folder.

Measurements and Materials

  • Card base is Thick Whisper White
    • 8 1/4" x 5 7/8"
    • Scored @ 4 1/8" on the long side
    • This makes a standard C6 card
    • If your card stock is 8 1/2" x 11" then make your usual card base size as it will still work beautifully with that :-) 
  • The centre of the card base was cut out using the large die from So any Snowflakes
  • This was then embossed with the Winter Snow embossing folder
  • The Vellum backing was cut using the largest die from the Stitched Nested Label Dies
    • If you do not have these dies you can just cut a penal big enough to cover the aperture
  • The 3 smallest snowflakes were die cut using Misty Moonlight  card stock
  • The 'Thank you Snow much' sentiment was stamped in Misty Moonlight  onto Whisper White and die cut with the second largest circle from the Stitched Shapes dies
    • This was then popped up on dimensionals on top of the vellum so it sort of floats
    • I really likes the way both dies gave a stitched edge
  • To finish off the card I colour some pearls with the Dark Night of Navy blends marker and placed one in the centre of each snowflake
