Junk Journal Series: DIY Paper Dolls

Nigezza Creates aka Gez, Independent Stampin' Up® Demonstrator

Thank you for joining me for one of my Junk Journal Series posts. I usually do these on a Wednesday but as I was visiting my son yesterday I did not have time to upload the video to YouTube on time. This week I am showing how you can make your own paper dolls. I got this great book from a charity shop for £1.49 and there are so many great images in it that an be used in a vintage journal as well as these photo with no backgrounds that are really easy to fussy cut out to make a paper doll.  I decided to follow the trend of adding a butterfly behind and rather than fussy cut one from a digital I decided to stamp one using a Stampin' Up! stamp set and die cut it. I then used the amazing Stampin' Up! Blends (alcohol pens) to colour it so it looked very sepia and vintage.

Measurements and Materials

  • Tag base was the cereal box that had been collaged on as per last weeks video
  • I used a tea dyed doily
  • An image from the same book
  • Stamped butterfly using Butterfly Brilliance stamp set & die cut with Brilliant Wings dies
  • I used the Stampin' Up! Early Espresso ink pad
  • This was then coloured in using the Crumb Cake Stampin' Blends Combo pack & the `Bronze Blend
  • I made my own words on my MacBook to add to projects and I backed this on a scrap of envelope
  • I used the Stampin' Up! stamp set Quiet Meadow to add faded text and age spots to the tag
  • I stamped with Stampin' Up! Crumb Cake ink pad
  • I used the Stampin' Up! Blending Brushes to add to the back of the tag and around the edges of the butterfly
  • I added a tab to the top of the tag using the retired Stampin' Up! Round Tab punch
  • The final touch was to stitch around the tag on my sewing machine

Now watch the video tutorial to see how this was made :-)
