Junk Journal Faux Vintage Ephemera From Modern Books

Nigezza Creates aka Gez, Independent Stampin' Up® Demonstrator

Thank you for visiting my blog today on Junk Journal day.  I really do appreciate it and hope you like the project and will take a look at the video tutorial as well.  I just couldn't wait for the charity shops to open and Monday morning I was down my local street where there is are 5 charity shops and one charity vintage shop. I am so lucky to have these amazing shops near me.

I always find some thing from most of the shops but this visit was an exception.  I am totally blown away by the vintage haul. I did buy one modern book that had amazing photos from the 1880s - 1900s. I had ideas of making cabinet cards and faux postcards. There was a lovely wedding photo so I decided ot make a folder to hold the photo.

Measurements and Materials

  • I made a simple cabinet card
  • I cut the picture and aged it using Cinnamon Cider ink and blending brushes
  • I also used a sponge dauber to ink around the edges
  • I cut some tea stained Basic White card stock to mount the picture on
  • I made an equal margin around the top and sides and a bigger margin at the bottom
  • I embossed the bottom with a die to give the impression of the photographers mark
  • For the wedding photo I made a folder
  • To make it seem special I used a lace edge die and an embossing folder
  • I aged it again in the same way as before
  • The ink blended over the embossed sections made them show up more
  • I matted the photo to make it pop more and more authentic looking

Now watch the video tutorial to see how this was made :-)
