Stamp Around UK Video Hop: Favourite DSP

Nigezza Creates aka Gez, Independent Stampin' Up® Demonstrator

Thank you for visiting my blog, I really do appreciate it and hope you like the project and will take a look at the video tutorial as well. Today is the first of the month so that means it it the Stamp Around UK video hop. This is a special video hop just for UK demonstrators. This month the theme is favourite DSP. Very hard for me as I often change my mind and also I am a self confessed paper hoarder so find it hard to use! lol

SO for this project I have not only discovered a favourite but I have used almost all of my pack! I only had half a pack as I always do a DSP share with my friend Jill from Paper Daisy Crafting, who is on this video hop as well. So this project will use almost half a pack of 12x12 DSP.

I recently made a mini traveler's note book that people seemed to like so for this project it is a full sized one. I have a beautiful Traveler's notebook that I got from a craft store in the US while on holiday. It had 30 or 40% off and I was so excited to have it.  I like to make my own notebooks for it and I have planners, books with dots for designing, just lined books and now I have one for collecting memories and journalling.

Measurements and Materials

The notebook is made from 5 sheets of DSP and 5 sheets of 120 gsm copier paper that I dyed with red cabbage! I could not believe how well the colour went with this DSP and it was the inspiration for the TN.  You could of course use white paper but I love the uniqueness of each page and I love the crinkle feel and sound of dyed paper.

  • Each page for the notebook measures
    • 8 1/4" x 8 3/4"
    • The pages are 8 1/4" tall
    • You just fold each page in half on the long side
    • Single page width is 4 3/8"
  • Some sheets of DSP are directional so you need to make sure the direction goes top to bottom on the shorter side
  • Once the pages are all folded and alternated DSP and dyed paper yu will notice that the pages are uneven, they stick out a bit. You can leave this or shave off about 1/16" off the second pair, then increase by about 1/16" for each pair working your way into the centre of the notebook.
  • These measurements are approximate as it does depend on the paper thickness you use
  • Alternative methods are to use a craft knife and metal ruler to trim or a guillotine
  • The notebook was then sewn using the 3 hole pamphlet stitch
  • The off cuts were then used to create pocket on some of the pages

Now watch the video tutorial to see how this was made :-)

Video Tutorial

The tutorial has 2 parts, part one if the video hop and I make the notebook and pockets. Part 2 I make the cover and tags, I wasn't going to make tags but decided to in the end. I can chose to use them or not and can make more if needed. I will add embellishments as I use it.

Time for the closeups!
