Simple Vintage Scrapbook Layout

Nigezza Creates aka Gez, Independent Stampin' Up® Demonstrator

Thank you for visiting my blog, I really do appreciate it. Today I am bringing you the tutorial for the scrapbook layout I made for the Ink & Share Scrapbook Blog Hop. The theme this month was 'M' we could take that letter and do what we wanted with it. I took it and made Mum. As it was mother's day last week in the UK I was remembering my lovely mum and looking though old photos. As I am the sibling who scrapbooks and is obsessed with preserving photos I have inherited all mum & dads photos and am slowly digitalising them so they will be available for years to come. I just love the photo of my mum on her First Holy Communion taken in her back garden in the house she grew up in with her 9 brothers and sisters! I equally love the photo of my dad as a little boy, I love how this studio photo was touched up with some colour. Both these photos will date back to the late 1930s/early 1940s and are a real treasure. I decided that they needed to be off my computer and onto a scrapbook layout. Now it is done I think it will actually go in a frame on the wall. I have kept it simple and tried to create something vintage and in keeping with the age of the pictures.

Measurements and Materials

  • Very Vanilla 12x12 card stock
  • Photos matted onto Early Espresso with a 1/8" border on 3 sides and 1/4" on the bottom
    • This was to give the look of cabinet cards, the old fashioned way studio portraits were presented
  • Flowering Vines die cuts in Crumb Cake used behind the photos.
  • Playful Alphabet dies used for the titles Mum & Dad
  • Lace and braid added to the bottom of the faux cabinet cards.
  • 3 scored lines were done 1/8" apart on all 4 sides
  • Crumb Cake ink used to distress the edges of the layout to give a vintage look

Now watch the video tutorial to see how this was made :-)
