I wanted to make some fun Easter treats for a group of teenagers I was spending Easter with.  As there was going to be 16 of them it was going to be quite expensive so I bought a selection of mini eggs and split the packets and mixed them and used the little cellophane bags.  I decorated the tops with an Easter chick using the own builder punch.  I think they look fun and I a sure the kids will like them.

I used the owl punch and punch out the body, 2 small circles and the heart, I did this in yellow card stock and I also did it in whisper white card stock and coloured these using the water colour pencils. I cut the owl ears off by following the curve of the body, coloured with the yellow water coloured pencil and used a blender pen to give it a water colour effect.  I used the Pumpkin Pie pencil to colour the feet and heart shape, again blended with the blender pen. I coloured 2 pearls with a black sharpie pen.  I cut a half scalloped circle for the wings and again coloured as \I did the body. I then cut a circle in whisper white using the 2 1/2 inch circle pinch. I inked all the edges in peekaboo peach. I stamped a small Happy Easter greeting in Peekaboo peach and used the small label punch to cut it out ad again inked the edges.

Then I stuck it all together, the half scalloped circle was cut in half and stuck to the bac of the chick at an angle, I stuck the heart in the middle of the body and stuck the eyes on the 2 rounded tops of the heart. I then positioned the peals in the centre of the eyes. I folded the celo bag over twice, placed the folded circle over the fold and stapled it together. Using Dimensional's I stuck the chick to the topper and stuck the greeting on it.

Simple easy to make projects - even simpler when yellow card is used.

Stampin Up Touches of Texture #2

Here is my latest video.

I love the Touches of Texture stamp set it is so versatile.  I decided to make my own background paper.  Love the colour (Stampin Ups Island Indigo) I stamped 3 times with the one inking to get the 3 different colours from one ink colour.

I randomly stamped all over the paper with the flower stamp and then used the flower  outline and went over all the flowers.  The A4 card stock was cut into 4 equal mats for 4 cards and added a strip of Island Indigo card stock to act as a 'fake ribbon' and stamped a Happy Birthday sentiment from the Better Together stamp set and punch it out using the Decorative label punch. I then added some pearls to the ribbon strip and popped the mat up on Dimensional's. 

I think the result is stunning.

Stampin Up Touches of Texture Card

Here is my latest YouTube video - I did this last weekend so it WAS Mothers day when filmed it!


Card size is a standard A4 sheet cut in half and scored in half.  Matted 1/4 inch smaller and second mat 1/4 inch smaller again to give a border of 1/8 inch.


I do not like waste which is why I gut my mat that is covered up.


Stamp set is Touches of Texture, Petite Petals punch and matching stamp set - Whisper White card stock, Island Indigo card stock and ink and Teeny Tiny Sentiments. Glue.

Stampin Up Butterfly card using Delicate Details

I love the simplicity of this card.  It makes it look really elegant. A simple card using half an A4 sheet for the card base and 2 pieces of whisper white cut 1/4 inch shorter and thinner to create an 1/8 inch border. I used coordinating ink for the Lace stamp from Delicate Details to frame the card front and on the inside of the card. Then I stamped the sentiment and cut out the butterfly using my die cutting machine.  Finally I stuck the Butterfly back into the aperture. Quick, easy and stunning.

Materials:
Island indigo card stock (half a sheet of A4 scored in half )
Island indigo ink
Whisper white card stock - 2 pieces cut at 5 5/8 x 3 7/8 (inches)
Happy Birthday sentiment from Basic Butterflies
Large lace border from Delicate Details
Medium butterfly die from Butterflies Thinlits

Had a lovely morning crafting before I went into the city centre to see the Weeping Poppies.

 

I stamped the paper my self using Touches of Textures from Stampin Up and Island Indigo, I really love this colour.



Gift box using Avant Garden

Here is my latest YouTube video.  I decided to make a small gift box that could be used for Easter treats or a small gift. Watch the tutorial here! 

I made my own DSP (designer series paper) using the Avant Garden stamp set.  I love this flower from the set which is one of the free stamp sets as part of Stampin Up's Sale-A-Bration which is still available until March 31st. All you need to do is place an order for £45 and this set will be yours for free.

I wanted to design a box that would be made from half a sheet of A4 cardstock so you can get 2 box's from one sheet.  The original box I used Island Indigo and the one I made on camera uses Rich Razzle Berry.

Here is what you need, all measurements are in inches:

Base cardstock measures 7 1/2 x 5 5/8

Score on the long side at 1 1/8 - 3 3/8 - 4 1/2 - 6 3/4

Turn to the short side with the largest section at the top and score at  1 1/8 - 3 3/8 - 4 1/2

Belly Band in base card stock 3/4 x 7

DSP for box measure aprox. 8 1/4 x 3

Mats for box - 4 x (2x1) and 2 x (2x1) and mat for Belly Band 1/2 x 7

You will also need scraps for the topper you decide to do - I used the smallest stitch circle die for the Indigo Island box and a circle punch for the Rich Razzle Berry box and a scallop punch to frame it.

Here is a template showing the score lines and the shaded areas that need cutting out.



Once the cardstock is scored and sections cut out I then notched out the tabs and rounded all the corners of the front flap.

I stamped my own DSP using the Avant Garden flower stamp, I stamped first, second and third generation stamping to give 3 complimentary toning colours.

Once stamped I cut the mats and stuck in place BEFORE I stuck the box together.  I did make a mistake and stuck a mat to the bottom of the box instead of the top of the box! I will rectify this and add another mat to the top of the box.

Then you put fast fuse or any strong adhesive on the side flap, stick this down, fold in the bottom section and use fast fuse again on the bottom flap making sure you have the correct section so that the open end is at the back of the box.


The belly band is simply made by folding it around the box and pinching it at each edge, you then stick the DSP to it and burnish, add some adhesive and place around the box and stick.


For the topper I stamped a sentiment on whisper white, used a circle punch to punch out a circle and then I punched a scallop circle out of Rich Razzle Berry. I stuck the topper to the belly band with a dimensional.

Crafty Caroline card swap

Caroline is doing a card swap so I created this card to send to her.

I have been playing with the Stylish Stems Framelits for a few weeks now and have made a few birthday cards and a mothers day cards with them. I have been using the 2016/2017 in colours from Stampin Up, but for this card I paired Sweet Sugar Plum with Rich Razzle Berry.  I really think these colours go really well together.

The dies cut the shape into the card and if you add the frame it will cut the flower out completely. I decided to add the flower outline on top of the cut out flower in the contrasting colour.  I think it is very effective.

Sticking these delicate flowers can be tricky, Stampin Up have a fine tip glue pen which works but sometimes the glue shows on the flower - this happened with the small flower so I used Wink of Stella on the flower so this would not show and added some bling to the card. The alternative way is to put some wet glue on a silicon mat and dip a sponge in it and dab the glue on to the flower.  This was a tip I got from Connie Stewart.
