Dainty Flowers Part 6: Finishing Touches!

Nigezza Creates aka Gez, Independent Stampin' Up® Demonstrator

Welcome to my blog, thank you for joining me today 😀

I am bringing you The final episode in my Dainty Flowers journal.

In this part I am adding the finishing touches.  I added a closure to the journal, I have gone for simply adding a ribbon to the back cover through an eyelet and  winding it around to the front to tie a bow. The ribbon I got from a charity shop and matches the tea dyed paper on the cover really well I think. I then used the scraps of paper left over from the cover to form pockets on the insides of the cover.  I then needed a tag for the pockets so I used the left over vintage ledger sheet  had on my desk and not only made a tag but a little flip out to paper clip to the facing page. These were decorated simply with some stamping and die cuts fro the matching bundle Dainty Flowers. I am so happy with how this has turned out ...I think I am going to struggle to sell this as I want to keep it!

Dainty Flowers Part 6: Finishing Touches!

Measurements and Materials

  • Each page measures 8" x 8"
  • Some were left at 12" wide to form 2" side pockets on each page
  • The 12'x4" off cuts will be used as pockets, tags and journal cards
  • I made some diagonal pockets and some gusseted pockets out of the left over DSP
  • I added book pages, music paper, tea dyed paper to complete the pages in the journal
  • I also took a page out of my old ledger book ... now that makes this journal really special!
  • I used some tags I had previously made that went really well with this paper
  • I also made some tags with the scraps of DSP left and decorated the pocket fronts
  • The cover measures 10" x 8 1/2"
  • It was scored @ 4 1/2" - 5" - 5 1/2"
  • I used the 3 hole pamphlet stitched to sew in the signatures
  • For the closure I added an eyelet to the back cover and secured some ribbon to it and tied a bow on the front
  • I then added simple pockets to the inside of each cover
  • I added a tag and little flip using the ledger paper scrap and decorated with stamps and dies that match the DSP

Now watch the video tutorial to see how this was made :-)

The Project Share 26th January 2023

Nigezza Creates aka Gez, Independent Stampin' Up® Demonstrator

Nigezza Creates Project Share Stampin Up!

Thank you so much for visiting my blog today, it's Thursday so it's time for another Project Share.  Every Thursday I chose a project from 3 of my crafty friends. From the left we have Jill aka Paper Daisy Crafting, Verity aka Inkybutterfly, me and Heather aka Stamp with Nellie.

Heather from Stamp With Nellie

The Project Share 26th January 2023

First up we have Heather who has used the Beautiful Thistle. Every time I see this thistle I find myself laughing as I remember Ivor Cutler, a Scottish Poet & musician who talked about how his father would point out things on country walks ...look a thistle ... for some reason Ed & I found this hilarious and now we say it every time we see one. Keeps us amused anyway!  Beautiful card.

Next we have Verity who has used the 2 alphabets sets we have in the catalogue along with the Watercolour World stamp set. I love this and think it would be a great scrapbook layout or a great card for someone going away to Uni or on a fab holiday.

You can take a closer look at this project by clicking here :-)

Finally we have Jill with a lovely personalised notebook. Jill has also used the new Alphabet dies and teamed it up beautifully with my favourite DSP Dainty Flowers which is free during Sale-A-Bration with a £45 order. As a paper hoarder you may be surprised to hear that I have already used an entire pack!

Dainty Flowers Journal Part 5

Nigezza Creates aka Gez, Independent Stampin' Up® Demonstrator

Welcome to my blog, thank you for joining me today 😀

I am bringing you another episode in my Dainty Flowers journal.

In this part I am making the cover and sewing in the signatures.  I have used a sheet from another DSP pack that is free with a £45 order during Sale-A-Bration, Favoured Flowers.  I tea dyed the sheet so it had the same vintage look as the other sheets.  I found some lace I had bought from a charity shop for the spine and added some lovely vintage looking ribbon. I couldn't decide between just a little label on the front or adding the vellum frame, I went with the stamped vellum frame in the end.

Dainty Flowers Journal Part 5
