Making My December Daily Journal From Start To Finish

Nigezza Creates aka Gez, Independent Stampin' Up® Demonstrator

Thank you for visiting my blog, I really do appreciate it. This week as part of my Junk Journal series I  am making my first December Daily journal. This is a small A6 size journal that I intend to write in all through December.  I didn't want to make it too big so that it didn't overwhelm me. I really like making this little journal, it was quite quick to put together probably because there is not much embellishment. I intend on adding things as I write in it. I printed off all the Christmas freebie digitals I have accumulated over the last few months from Artymaze, Tracie Fox, Carol Tinson & Scrapbooking With Me Crafts.

Measurements & Materials

  • I cut the digital print outs in half and backed them onto some very old flip chart paper that I have had for about 20-25 years so it has aged really nicely
  • Each page was folded in half and I arranged them in the order I wanted
  • I chose to make 2 signatures
  • I stuck numbers 1-31 on each page, I got these from a free download from Scrapbooking With Me Crafts, I really like them
  • I have decided not to sew the signatures yet because I may want to add things between the pages
  • I have lots of tags and journalling spots printed to use once I start filling in my daily journal
  • I made a pocket on the inside of the cover
    • I measured the width and added 1" to this
    • I decided on how deep I wanted the pocket and added 1/2"
    • I scored 1/2' on 3 sides
    • I cut the corners off and applied glue to the flaps and stuck to the page
    • I like pockets done like this because you can put things in them that is the full width
  • I used scrapbook paper on the inside of the cover which I glued down after reinforcing the spine with some fabric
  • I stuck some lovely ribbon around the book and added the decoration on top of it
  • I used cheese cloth on the spine because I still wanted to see the gold lettering
  • I added digitals to the front and back
  • I may add a title later
  • I finished it off with some old braid
  • Finally I have used some burlap string to tie the signatures to the cover in a travellers notebook style
  • I may change this but for now I like it

You can see how I made this in the tutorial :-)
