Craft Fair Idea: Covered Note Book & Pen Holder

I have wanted to make a notebook cover with a pen holder for ages. I also wanted to use the fresh florals papers as I think they make any project look stunning.

I am not sure that I would recover the note book itself if I did this again as the core with the pen holder is actually enough I think.  What do you think?

I have gifted this to my friend and she is going to give me some feedback.  I plan to make these for a craft fair I am doing in December.

Measurements:

To decide on the measurements I measured the notebook and pen, this gave me the width, 2 x notebook width + notebook height + 2 x pen width. the height was the height of the notebook. You can use this now to adjust to the size of your pen and note book.

So when scoring you score at the width of the notebook, then height of notebook, then width of pen, then width of pen again, whats left should measure the width of the notebook. Hope that makes sense!

For my jotter:
Berry Burst Cardstock = 7 7/8 x 4
Score @ 3 3/8 - 3 3/4 - 4 1/8 - 4 1/2 along the long side

Fresh Florals DSP = 3 1/8 x3 3/4

Decorated front with a small piece of Berry Burst Fine Woven Ribbon and used the Pretty Label Punch to punch out the sentiment from Better Together, I stamped some leaves around the edge to blend in with the DSP.

I made a cover for the inside note book but I think I would not bother with cover again as it means you open 2 covers
I
decorated the inside note book with a simple stripe of DSP

Measurements for cover:
Berry Burst Cardstock = 3 1/4 x 4 3/4
Score @ 4 - 4 1/4 along the long side
Fresh Florals DSP = 3 1/8 x 3 3/4

I love the way the DSP and matching cardstock make this project look so stunning.

    1. Hi Carole - I got mine from Trago Mills but I saw similar last week in either Home Bargains or B&M - went in both shops the same day so can't remember which one now. About £1 or £1.25 for 5 pens I think. Thanks for the comment about the project :-)
